ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stressed the need to boost economic diplomacy and efforts to strengthen trade and investment ties with foreign countries.
According to a press statement received here on Saturday, the foreign minister made these remarks while chairing an online meeting with Heads of Missions to review the progress made on market sounding efforts being made through Pakistan’s Missions Abroad for outsourcing airports.
During the meeting, the Secretary of Aviation / DGCAA presented the progress review and apprised that concerted efforts by Heads of Missions in Turkey, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Paris, Spain, Germany, Kuwait, Switzerland, and the UK have reinvigorated the interests of well-known airport operators who had shown optimistic interest in bidding for Islamabad International Airport.
The meeting was followed by the 9th Meeting of the Steering Committee on Outsourcing of Airports, attended by the Secretary of Aviation / DGCAA, Secretary of Law & Justice, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ME, Additional Secretary of BOI, DG ASF, DG ANF, Additional DGCAA, Additional DG FIA (Immigration), and senior officers of Pakistan Customs and the IFC Team.

Meanwhile, officials from the IFC presented a progress review report and emphasized that foreign investors had shown keen interest in the bidding process of Islamabad International Airport, and healthy competition was expected.
The Foreign Minister stressed the outsourcing of Karachi and Lahore Airport to IFC, urging them to accelerate and complete the necessary tasks within the stipulated time frame.
It was also assured by the heads of government agencies that all-out efforts would be made to observe and adhere to service delivery benchmarks to ensure a unified passenger experience at airports.
