ABIDJAN: Former President of Ivory Coast Henri Konan Bedie, has died at the age of 89 in the hospital, according to his close relatives.
Bedie, who remained President from 1993 to 1999 passed away at the Polyclinique Internationale Sainte Anne-Marie (PISAM).
He dominated the politics of Ivory Coast for a generation. Bedie lost his power in a military coup in 1999.
He was the second president of the Ivory Coast after the country got independence from France in 1960.
