KATHMANDU: A helicopter crashed in central Nepal on Wednesday, killing all five people on board including the pilot and four Chinese nationals, the Civil Aviation Authority said.
The incident occurred as the Air Dynasty chopper was en route from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, a popular gateway for trekking routes.
According to a press release from the Civil Aviation Authority, the helicopter lost contact approximately three minutes after takeoff. The helicopter went down in Nuwakot district, situated north of the capital, Kathmandu.
Police spokesman Dan Bahadur Karki confirmed the fatalities, stating, “All five people aboard, including the pilot, are dead.” The bodies of the deceased have been recovered from the crash site.
Nuwakot district officer Ram Krishna Adhikari added that the rescue operation is ongoing. “Police have already reached the site and are involved in the rescue efforts,” he said.
