Four killed, 10 injured in Balochistan’s Barkhan explosion

ISLAMABAD: As many as four people were killed and 10 other injured in an explosion inside the Rakhni market in Barkhan in Balochistan province on Sunday morning, said the police officials.

 

Barkhan Station House Officer Sajjad Afzal confirmed the death toll. He said that the injured persons were moved to a nearby hospital. He added that a police team has reached the crime scene and cordoned off the area for investigations.

Abdullah Khoso, Barkhan Deputy Commissioner said that the blast occurred when an improvised explosive device, planted on a motorbike, exploded. Unverified videos making rounds on the social media show volunteers carrying victims away as a crowd gathered at the site of the blast.

 

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo condemned the blast and directed the authorities concerned to take all the possible steps to nab the culprits. “Those who shed the blood of innocent people are enemies of humanity,” he added.

 

The chief minister also directed the concerned officials to provide the best medical care to the injured people as he prayed for the high ranks of the deceased.
