Four Killed, 16 Injured in Chemical Factory Blast in Southern India

NEW DELHI: At least four people were killed and 16 wounded in a blast at a chemical factory in Telengana state of southern India on Wednesday, a local police official told Reuters.

The blast, which occurred on Wednesday, rocked the premises of a pharmaceutical firm named SB Organics, causing significant devastation. Local authorities swiftly mobilized a team of 40 personnel for rescue operations, managing to extricate all individuals who were trapped in the aftermath of the explosion.

“We have a team of 40 people on the ground for rescue operations and all the people who have been trapped have been rescued,” stated CH Rupesh, a police official overseeing the response efforts.

Among the casualties, a senior executive of SB Organics is suspected to have lost their life in the incident, although their identity has not been disclosed at the time of reporting.

Efforts to ascertain the cause of the blast and assess the extent of damage are currently underway, with authorities yet to release further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the explosion.

Despite attempts to reach SB Organics for comment, Reuters was unable to establish contact with the pharmaceutical company immediately.
