ISLAMABAD: Four Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom while five terrorists were killed during an exchange of firing between security forces and Khwarij terrorists in the north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement on Thursday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of the Pakistan Army, stated that the exchange of fire took place in the general area of Karama, South Waziristan district, which shares a border with Afghanistan.
Security forces engaged the terrorists effectively, and after an intense firefight, five Khwarij were sent to hell, ISPR stated in a press release.
However, during the operation, four brave sons of soil were martyred in the fighting. The martyred soldiers were identified as Naib Subedar Taib Shah (38, District Tank), Lance Naik Gulab Zaman (30, District Karak), Lance Naik Muzammil Mehmood (30, District Karak), and Lance Naik Habibullah (28, District Orakzai), ISPR stated.
According to ISPR, a sanitization operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists.
Pakistan’s Security Forces remain committed to wiping out the means of terrorism. ISPR said that the sacrifices of these brave soldiers only strengthened their resolve.
Earlier on November 4, security forces killed six terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations in North and south Waziristan districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to ISPR, security forces failed an attempt of a group of khwarij to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and killed five terrorists in the general area of Khamrang, South Waziristan District. In another incident, one khwarij was killed during an operation in the North Waziristan district.
A report by the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), an Islamabad-based think tank, Pakistan witnessed 48 terrorist attacks alone in October in which 100 people were killed, and injured 80 others.
Out of 48, 35 attacks occurred in KP, nine in Balochistan and two each in Sindh and Punjab province.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) and some unspecified Baloch insurgent groups perpetrated eight attacks. One attack was orchestrated by the TTP, which injured four people.
The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) and a few other groups, mostly operating from Afghanistan, are carrying out these attacks.
Pakistan has consistently urged Afghanistan to take action against terrorist organisations operating on its soil and involved in cross-border attacks in Pakistan.
However, despite Islamabad’s repeated requests, the Afghan Taliban have been reluctant to take action against terrorists who are freely roaming in Afghanistan.
