Four Pakistanis Killed by Iranian Border Guards in Balochistan: Officials

QUETTA: Iranian border guards opened fire at a vehicle of Pakistanis, killing four people and injuring two others in Balochistan’s Washuk district, officials said on Thursday.

According to officials, the firing incident took place in the Judar-Bacharai area close to the international border late on Tuesday.

A senior official from the Mashkel administration has said that the Iranian forces opened fire inside the Pakistani border.

The victims were inside the Pakistani border area when the Iranian forces opened fire on them. Dr. Ashraf from the Mashkel Rural Health Centre confirmed casualties to the local media.

An official posted at the border told media that those killed and injured were involved in the smuggling of Iranian oil.

One of the injured individuals, Akhtar, said that they were waiting for an oil consignment when the Iranian forces opened fire on them. He said that four Iranians were also killed in the retaliatory attack.

Security forces on both sides of the border often arrest smugglers who operate in the region.
