Four People Killed, Two Children Injured in Philadelphia Shooting

PHILADELPHIA: Four people were killed and two children, aged 2 and 13, were wounded in a shooting Monday evening in southwestern Philadelphia, United States.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle M. Outlaw said that a suspect was arrested with an AR-style rifle, a bulletproof vest, a handgun, many ammunition magazines in the vest, and a scanner after the shooting incident that spanned several blocks in or around the Kingsessing neighborhood, CNN reported on Tuesday.

He said that a second person who may have picked up someone’s gun and returned fire was also arrested.

Police said that three of the four killed in shooting ranged in age from twenty to fifty-nine. The age of the fourth victim could not immediately known.

Outlaw said that the conditions of the injured children as stable.

Shell casings litter shooting scenes

About fifty spent shell casings litter the shooting scenes, he added.

Police said that investigators did not immediately know what caused the shooting.

Earlier, police said 8 people had been wounded, however it revised the toll later.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, at least 339 mass shootings have happened in the United States so far this year.
