RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Rajgal area of Khyber district and killed four terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
According to ISPR, “The movement of a group of khwarij (terrorists), who were trying to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, was picked up by the security forces in the Rajgal area of Khyber district.”
The security forces effectively engaged and thwarted the terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate the Pak-Afghan border, resultantly, four terrorists were killed, ISPR stated.
However, during the intense fire exchange at the Pak-Afghan border, one brave son of the soil, Sepoy Amir Sohail Afridi, 22, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom, ISPR stated.
“Pakistan has consistently been asking the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border,” ISPR maintained.
The interim Afghan Government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan, ISPR stated.
“Pakistan’s Security Forces remain committed to secure its borders and eliminate the menace of terrorism, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” ISPR resolved.
Earlier on Friday, security forces gunned down seven terrorists, including a most-wanted terrorist of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the Tank district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The operation was conducted on the night of December 17-18. During the successful operation, security forces killed seven terrorists, including a top commander, Ali Rahman alias Tauha Swati.
Ali Rahman was a close associate of TTP’s key commander, Mufti Fazalullah. He had joined TTP in 2010 and was a key member of the Khwarij’s Shura.
Ali Rahman was also associated with TTP’s key commander, Qari Amjad alias Mufti Mazahim. During the operation, the terrorists took two children hostage and tried to use them as human shields.
