ISLAMABAD: Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI), emphasized the Federation’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment during his visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
Addressing ICCI members, Sheikh highlighted FPCCI’s collaboration with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to implement tax reforms that aim to broaden the tax base and simplify the taxation system. These reforms are expected to benefit Pakistan’s economy by promoting a culture of tax compliance.
Sheikh pointed out positive economic trends, including the resolution of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) issues, declining inflation, and interest rates, all of which are crucial for industrial revival and export growth. He also noted the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as game-changers for Pakistan’s economy. A potential single-currency regime among SCO member states was also discussed at the recent summit, which could further benefit trade.
