The telephone call came amid heightened tensions in the region, especially between Hezbollah and Israel following the former launched a barrage of rockets on an Israeli army bases on Saturday. Hezbollah said the assault was a response to Israel’s killing a top Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut.

Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian said the only way to stop the expansion of the war in the region and to establish peace is to focus on the root of the issue and solve it. Referring to the heavy death toll in Gaza, Iran’s Foreign Minister held the US and Israel responsible for it.

Colonna denounced the bombings that came on the 4th anniversary of the death of Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
