NEW YORK: France on Monday announced that it will be proposing a new draft resolution at the UN Security Council resolution which would stress for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza strip.

France’s permanent representative to the UN, Nicolas de Riviere, told journalists in New York that the new draft focuses on most pressing issues.

It stresses for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza without any pre-conditions. It also sought immediate, and unconditional release of all captives. It demands an immediate and full humanitarian access to the Palestinians in Gaza.

The resolution stressed an immediate ceasefire ensuring the protection of humanitarian and civilians and personnel as well and the massive humanitarian aid delivery to the civilian population of Gaza.

It seeks unconditional and immediate release of all captives held by Hamas.

The resolution further demands a safe and uninterrupted humanitarian access to the civilian population in Gaza which is facing acute levels of acute food insecurity.

Resolution demands opening of all crossing points into Gaza Strip

It further asked Israel to open all crossing points into Gaza Strip as well as the opening of the port of Ashdod.

France in the resolution also calls for a sustainable solution to the situation in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of effective control of the Palestinian Authority at the Gaza strip.

De Riviere said that the UN Security Council must address the root causes of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It also denounced the attacks of Hamas on Israel on October 7.

According to the health ministry in the besieged Gaza Strip at least 32,845 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 7 amid the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza.

The grim figure includes 63 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours alone, with a total of 75,392 persons wounded during the more than five months of bombing campaign.
