PARIS, France: French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expressed hope on Thursday that the upcoming U.S. presidential election on November 5 will occur without violence, although he voiced uncertainty about this prospect.
Speaking to France’s BFM TV, Barrot emphasized the significance of a peaceful election for democracies globally and warned that any violence surrounding the vote could have serious repercussions.
As officials in swing states brace for misinformation and threats, Barrot noted that France is prepared to work with the next US president, whether it be Republican Donald Trump or Democrat Kamala Harris. His remarks underline international concern about the impact of potential unrest in the United States.
