PARIS, France: Gabriel Attal, the prime minister of France, declared on Sunday that he will submit his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron early on Monday.
Despite his resignation, Attal stated that he would continue to fulfill his duties as required until the transition is complete.
Attal’s announcement followed the unexpected outcome of the second voting round in France’s parliamentary elections.
The left-wing New Popular Front coalition won the most seats, according to pollsters, surpassing the far-right National Rally (RN) party.
However, the coalition fell short of achieving an absolute majority in parliament. This unexpected result marks a significant shift in the political landscape, with the left-wing coalition poised to challenge the dominance of traditional parties.
