RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayers of three martyred soldiers of the Pakistan Army, who sacrificed their lives while defending their motherland, were offered in Bajaur on Monday night, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

Pakistan Army soldiers Naik Inayat Khan (age: 36 years, resident of Khyber district), Lance Naik Umer Hayat (age: 35 years, resident of Mansehra district) and Sepoy Waqar Khan (age: 25 years, resident of Peshawar district), having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom during an intense fire exchange with khwarij of Fitna al Khwarij in Bajaur district, ISPR stated.

A large number of people including the public, civilians and senior officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army participated in the funeral prayers of the martyred soldiers.

The bodies of the martyred soldiers were sent to their native areas where they will be laid to rest with full military honours, ISPR stated.

Earlier today, five khwarij were killed as Pakistan’s security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt by a group of khwarij of Fitna al Khwarij at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to ISPR, on the night of 18/19 August, movement of a group of Khwarij, who were trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, was picked up by the security forces in Bajaur district.

Pakistan’s security forces effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate. Resultantly, five khwarij of Fitna al Khwarij were sent to hell, while four khwarij got injured, ISPR stated.

Pakistan has consistently been asking the interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border. The interim Afghan Government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by khwarij for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Security Forces remain committed to securing its borders. “Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” ISPR resolved.
