HAITI: At least 15 people were killed and 40 others severely burned when a gasoline tanker exploded in Haiti, Prime Minister Garry Conille announced on Saturday.

The explosion occurred in Morne Calbassier, Miragoane, after the tanker collided with a stalled vehicle, puncturing its tank. Local residents approached the wreck to collect spilled fuel, despite warnings from the driver. Tragically, some died when the tanker exploded.

Sixteen of the injured were transferred to nearby hospitals, and an emergency evacuation plan involving Médecins Sans Frontières and the World Health Organization was launched to transport victims to Port-au-Prince for further treatment. Up to 20 motorcycles and cars were also burned in the blast, according to officials.
