GAZA: At least 48 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths since October of last year to 45,484, the territory’s Health Ministry reported on Saturday.
Approximately 108,090 people have also been wounded during the ongoing Israeli attacks, it said.
“Israeli forces killed 48 people and injured 52 others in two massacres of families in the last 24 hours,” the ministry said.
“Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.
At least 11 Palestinians have been killed and scores more injured in Israeli air strikes on civilians in northern Gaza, a house in the central part of the strip, and displaced people’s tents in Khan Younis, with the death toll feared to rise.
Media reported that an Israeli strike on a group of civilians in Sarari Street in Jabalia, northern Gaza, killed two Palestinians and injured several others.

Nine more Palestinians, including children, have been killed in an Israeli air strike targeting the home in the Maghazi refugee camp.
In another strike in southern Gaza, Israeli drones targeted displaced people’s tents in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, causing multiple casualties.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces detained at least 15 Palestinians from various areas of the occupied West Bank since yesterday evening.
According to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), the detentions took place across the governorates of Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarm, Ramallah, and Hebron.
Gaza children freezing to death
The commissioner-general of the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has said that children in war-hit Gaza are freezing to death due to the cold weather and shortage of shelter.
“Gaza babies are freezing to death due to cold weather and a lack of shelter,” Philippe Lazzarini wrote in a post on X.
“Blankets, mattresses, and other winter supplies have been stuck in the region for months waiting for approval to get into Gaza,” he said.
He reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire, urging “an immediate flow of much-needed basic supplies, including for winter.”
Israeli troops torch last functioning hospital in Gaza
Earlier Israeli troops had stormed and burnt one of the last hospitals in northern Gaza.
The territory’s Health Ministry said Israel’s military has taken dozens of Kamal Adwan Hospital staff, including director Hussam Abu Safia, into custody.
However, the fate of many patients remains unknown after troops forcibly cleared the medical facility.
