GAZA: Thousands of displaced Palestinians in northern Gaza have sought shelter in what was once the Strip’s biggest soccer arena, where families scrape by with little water or food as they try to keep one step ahead of Israel’s latest operation.
Hazem Abu Thoraya told the media that they left their homes and all of their homes were bombed and burned, and all those around them were as well. Hundreds of thousands of Gazans have remained in northern area of the Strip, even as Israeli forces have surrounded and isolated it.
Residents said that the deprivation and insecurity ware taking an ever-growing toll. Um Ahmad told AP that there is no safe place in the area. She said that fear is now felt not only among the kids, but also among the adults and they don’t even feel safe walking in the street.
Meanwhile, Israel’s intelligence chief David Barnea has held talks with Qatari mediators in the latest effort for a ceasefire and captive release agreement for Gaza, almost nine months into the Hamas- Israel war. AFP reported that said Mossad chief and his team had left Doha straight following the meetings on the latest Hamas ideas for a deal. However, no public statement was issued following the talks between the two sides.
Israel has carried out a brutal military operation that has killed around 38,011 people in Gaza, Gaza health ministry said.
