GCC Chief Urges Immediate Ceasefire, Stresses Urgent Need for Humanitarian Aid to Palestinians

DOHA: The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi has emphasized the imperative to increase humanitarian efforts and provide increased help to the Palestinian people, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

According to the SPA, this affirmation was made during a meeting in Doha between the GCC chief and Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Daniel Benaim, held on the sidelines of his participation in the Doha Forum.

Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi also reiterated the unwavering resolve of GCC nations to exert every possible effort to ease the suffering in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the immediate necessity for a truce to facilitate the entry and improvement of humanitarian and relief assistance.

The GCC chief also underscored the importance of adhering to global humanitarian standards and holding those responsible for the heinous Israeli crimes during the crisis. The SPA reported moreover, he highlighted the negative repercussions these crimes have caused on all aspects in Gaza and the wider region.  During the interaction, several topics of mutual interest were discussed between the two sides.
