GCC Countries Eager to Strengthen Cooperation with Russia

RIYADH: Member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have shown a strong desire to enhance cooperation in various areas with Russia, as highlighted during the sixth joint ministerial meeting of strategic dialogue between the Gulf countries and Russia on Monday.

Jassim al-Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the council, stated that the GCC countries are keen to strengthen all forms of cooperation with Russia. He emphasized the positive impact of cooperation with Russia within the OPEC+ group on the oil market, highlighting the importance of such collaboration in ensuring stability and balance in global energy markets.

GCC Stance on Russia-Ukraine Conflict

During the meeting, the GCC countries also reaffirmed their support for efforts aimed at achieving security and resolving disputes. With regards to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, the Secretary-General stressed the GCC’s commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to peaceful settlements and regional stability.

The joint ministerial meeting served as a platform for fruitful discussions and strategic dialogue between the Gulf countries, fostering deeper understanding and cooperation on various issues of mutual interest.

The meeting underscored the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration between the GCC countries and Russia to address shared challenges, seize opportunities for economic growth, and promote peace and stability in the region.
