RIYADH: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
During the meeting the two sides had discussion on diverse subjects of mutual interest and an exploration of methods to boost collaboration across various sectors.
The historic collaboration between the GCC and the European Union was stressed, and the agreements reached at the 27th Joint Ministerial Council meeting, which took place in Muscat in October 2023, were also reviewed.
Both sides emphasized the vital role of collective international action in addressing the significant challenges and consequences emerging from various conflicts and crises at both the global and regional levels.
They also highlighted the gravity of the situation in Gaza and its deep impact on the lives of innocent Palestinian civilians. They stressed urgency in calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the prompt provision of humanitarian assistance and relief to the affected Palestinian population in the region.
