ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad celebrated German Unity Day with a vibrant garden reception on Thursday, marking the historic reunification of East and West Germany on October 3, 1990.
The day commemorates the end of 41 years of separation and the emergence of a united German nation.
On the occasion, German Ambassador to Pakistan, Alfred Grannas, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the historical importance of the reunification. He reflected on the remarkable achievements and progress made by Germany since this crucial moment in history.
“German Unity Day is not only a celebration of our past but also a reminder of the strength we draw from our unity,” the Ambassador said.
The reception was hosted by the German Embassy and drew a diverse group of distinguished guests from both Pakistan and the international community. Attendees included representatives from German businesses, foundations, and organizations operating within Pakistan, as well as dignitaries and high officials from diplomatic, military, political, economic, humanitarian, and media sectors.
The event showcased the strong ties between Germany and Pakistan, with attendees exchanging ideas and fostering collaboration across various fields. The Embassy expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their presence and contributions, which enriched the celebrations and made German Unity Day a memorable occasion.
