OMAN: Germany emerged victorious in the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics Qualifiers, defeating Pakistan 4-0 in Muscat, Oman to earn a spot in the Paris Olympics 2024.

The match’s momentum swung in Germany’s favor early on, with Tom Grambusch converting a penalty corner in the 11th minute, giving his team an early lead. Niklas Wellen extended Germany’s advantage with a field goal in the 17th minute, maintaining a 2-0 lead at halftime.

As the game progressed into the third quarter, Germany continued to dominate. Niklas Wellen found the net once again with a successful penalty corner in the 40th minute, while Justus Weigand added to the tally with a field goal in the 39th minute, bringing the final score to 4-0 by the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw no further goals.

Pakistan’s Chance to Qualify for Paris Olympics

Despite this defeat, Pakistan still has an opportunity to qualify for the Paris Olympics by competing in the third position play-off. The outcome of the play-off will determine if Pakistan secures a place in the prestigious event. The opponent for Pakistan in the play-off will be either Great Britain or New Zealand, who are set to face off in the second semi-final later today.

Pakistan’s journey in the competition has had its ups and downs, including a crucial 3-3 draw against Malaysia, securing the necessary point to advance to the semi-finals. Their first win came against China with a 2-0 victory. Although Pakistan faced a setback in their opening match against Great Britain, the team displayed resilience and determination throughout the tournament.

In the group stage, Pakistan finished second in Pool A, trailing behind Great Britain, who secured nine points. Pakistan accrued four points, while China and Malaysia finished with three and one point, respectively. Apart from Germany, New Zealand also advanced to the semi-finals from Group B.
