ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the 27th Sustainable Development Conference organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI).
He urged for increased awareness, innovation, and a focus on resilience to achieve these goals by 2030. Gilani highlighted the transformative potential of technology, including artificial intelligence and blockchain, to drive inclusive growth and social protection measures.

The event’s theme, “From Fragility to Resilience,” underscored the importance of converting challenges into strengths, especially given Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change. The Acting President detailed Pakistan’s efforts in climate governance, linking Vision 2025 to SDG-aligned initiatives, such as the 5Es Framework, which focuses on exports, e-governance, environmental protection, energy, and equity.
He also praised the Benazir Income Support Program for assisting vulnerable families and noted the milestone of making Pakistan’s parliament green by adopting solar energy. Emphasizing gender equality as a catalyst for sustainable growth, he called for policies supporting women’s education, employment, and leadership opportunities.
