An “accidental fault” in the national grid’s southern power transmission system has left southern parts of the country without electricity after several power plants tripped.

The electricity breakdown left most parts of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan without electricity.

In a tweet, the Ministry of Energy said: “Due to an accidental fault in the country’s southern transmission system, several southern power plants are tripping, which is disrupting the transmission of electricity in the southern part of the country”.
