RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Mr. Jawad Sohrab Malik, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, engaged in a fruitful meeting with Adonis Georgiadis, the Minister of Labour and Social Security of Greece, at the Global Labour Market Conference (GLMC) in Riyadh.

The meeting focused on identifying potential collaborations to facilitate the migration of skilled manpower from Pakistan to Greece. Both parties expressed a strong interest in fostering cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) utilizing a government-to-government (G2G) framework.

A key highlight of the discussion revolved around addressing Greece’s current demand for skilled labour in the construction industry. The Greek Minister for Labour highlighted the country’s need for approximately 500,000 skilled workers in the construction sector. SAPM Jawad Sohrab Malik seized this opportunity to emphasize the availability of skilled Pakistani workers and the Pakistani Government’s commitment to meeting the demand in Greece and other countries facing workforce shortages.

The proposed collaboration aims to establish a mutually beneficial relationship, addressing the demand for skilled workers in Greece while providing opportunities for Pakistani workers. This initiative aligns with Pakistan’s vision of actively contributing to the global workforce and strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with friendly nations.

The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development reaffirms its dedication to nurturing partnerships that encourage international cooperation, fostering the exchange of expertise and skills between nations. The collaboration discussed at the GLMC underscores Pakistan’s commitment to supporting global labour markets and meeting the workforce needs of countries facing shortages.
