SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: In a distressing message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, Masarrat Aalam Butt, the illegally detained Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has condemned the world’s continued silence on the ongoing crisis in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Butt’s words underscore the urgent need for global attention to the escalating situation in the region.

Butt highlights the Indian government’s utilization of its formidable military might to suppress the Kashmiri people’s longstanding struggle for the right to self-determination. He firmly believes that India’s sinister intentions will never succeed in their nefarious designs. This is a war, according to Butt, waged by India against the unarmed residents of IIOJK. The atrocities inflicted by Indian forces have surged dramatically since August 5, 2019, when Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was revoked, stripping the region of its special autonomy.

For the past seventy-six years, Kashmiris have borne the brunt of Indian brutality as they persistently demand their right to self-determination. Butt emphasizes that no amount of Indian repression can force the Kashmiri people to relinquish their just demand. He appeals to international human rights organizations to raise their voices against the unrelenting Indian atrocities in IIOJK, shedding light on the plight of Kashmiris yearning for basic human rights and self-determination.

Meanwhile, other leaders of the APHC, including Saleem Zargar, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Maulana Musaib Nadvi, Israr Ahmad, and Malik Noor Muhammad Fayaz, have voiced similar concerns in Srinagar. They accuse India of employing terrorism as a state policy to intimidate the Kashmiri population into submission. Indian troops, they contend, are committing egregious human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, with eight Kashmiris falling victim to Indian bullets in the last month of August alone.

These leaders reveal that the atrocities committed by Indian troops, paramilitary forces, and police personnel during cordon and search operations have become an unfortunate routine in the occupied territory. However, they also underscore the unwavering determination of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for freedom, despite the grim spectre of Indian state terrorism.
