LONDON: Google has introduced a range of new features for its Chrome browser on mobile devices, aiming to elevate the search and browsing experience amidst increasing competition from startups like Arc.
The latest updates are designed to streamline navigation, enhance search capabilities, and integrate real-time updates, making Chrome more appealing to users worldwide.
Enhanced Search and Navigation: Among the key updates is a revamped address bar that offers smoother navigation, particularly beneficial for iPad and Android tablet users. This redesign allows users to access the address bar while keeping the current webpage visible on larger screens.
Trending Search Suggestions: Google has expanded trending search suggestions to the Chrome address bar on iOS, providing users with insights into popular search trends directly from Google Search. This feature aims to keep users informed about current topics of interest with ease.
Personalized Search Recommendations: Chrome now offers personalized search recommendations based on users’ browsing habits, ensuring quicker access to frequently visited websites related to specific queries.
Chrome Actions for Local Search: Chrome Actions, which were previously available for general queries, now extend to local search results on Android devices. Users can swiftly access actions like “Call,” “Directions,” and “Reviews” for local businesses directly from search results.
Live Sports Updates: Integrated into Chrome’s mobile Discover Feed, live sports cards provide real-time updates on game schedules, scores, and highlights. This feature is customizable via the Chrome app settings.
These new features are set to roll out soon for both Android and iOS devices. Chrome Actions for local search are currently available on Android and will be released for iOS devices later this fall, expanding accessibility across different platforms.
