ISLAMABAD: The government has already taken numerous steps to promote religious tourism in the country, as this sector can play a significant role in reviving the national economy.
Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation’s spokesperson said that a total of 480 tourist destinations existed in Pakistan, out of which 120 are religious sites.
He said the country is blessed with multiple religions, such as Islam, Buddhism, and Sikhism, due to its magnificent blend of religious, cultural, and natural tourism opportunities.
Tourists in Pakistan
Nearly 0.9 million international tourists visit the tourist and historical sites across the country annually, the spokesperson added.
He said the government was improving the law and order situation in the country to attract the immense number of tourists coming from different countries as religious-based tourism is developing and attracting various communities.
It is important to realize that religious practices and beliefs are sacrosanct to their followers. Acknowledging, accommodating, and respecting these faiths generates massive goodwill.
Pakistan is located in a region that has been home to diverging civilizations; the world’s two major religions, Sikhism and Buddhism, have been dominant in this land for many centuries.
