ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government on Saturday accused former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of hiring lobbyist firms to get a resolution passed against Pakistan by the US House of Representatives.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside PML-N leader and MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Barrister Aqeel Malik highlighted that Shaista Malik had presented a resolution in the House recently, which faced unwarranted opposition from a certain party. He criticized PTI for its stance against Pakistan’s resolution in response to the US resolution.

He further alleged that a political party is engaged in digital terrorism, and accused PTI of hiring lobbying and PR firms in the US.

Asserting the sanctity of Pakistan’s national flag, Barrister Aqeel Malik emphasized that every Pakistani is duty-bound to safeguard the country’s integrity and sovereignty. He criticized the United States for purportedly failing to address human rights abuses in Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik condemned the hiring of firms in America engaged in anti-Pakistan activities. She commended the government’s efforts towards national development and economic stability, stressing that no political party should obstruct the country’s progress.

“We seek good relations with the US but not at the cost of our sovereignty,” she affirmed, urging all stakeholders to prioritize national interests over personal agendas.

These developments followed the passage of House Resolution HR 901 by the United States House of Representatives, which garnered overwhelming support for democracy, human rights, and the rule of law in Pakistan.
