Govt Launches Pakistan’s First Dedicated Mental Health App

ISLAMABAD: On the World Health Day today, the government has launched Pakistan’s first dedicated mental health application as well as a toll-free helpline to tackle the rising mental health problems in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a tweet announced the launch of the application titled ‘Humraaz’.

“On this World Health Day today, I am pleased to announce the launch of Government’s first dedicated mental health App #Humraaz & helpline. Citizens’ well-being & especially mental health is paramount for our society’s improvement. We need to remove taboo around mental health,” the PM wrote on twitter.

The Humraaz app will give access to citizens to reach authorities in case of suicidal thoughts or any mental health emergency. It will also allow users to make appointments with psychiatrists and psychologists.

The new initiative has been launched under the PM’s Strategic Reforms Unit in collaboration between the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Health.
