ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet is expected to decide on crucial matters, including the increase of retail prices of drugs and outsourcing of major airports (Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi), in a high-level meeting currently underway at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.
A six-point agenda is under discussion in the ECC moot being chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, according to a statement received from the Cabinet Secretariate here on Monday.
Four out of six items from the agenda narrate the prices of drugs and if approved retail prices of a number of medicines would be increased in the market which would further affect the poor masses in the country who had already suffered from inflation.
Outsourcing of Major Airports
The sixth and final point of the agenda maintained that “Engagement of International Finance Corporation as Transaction Advisor for the Outsourcing of Airport (Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore).
Again, if approved this point would receive criticism from the opposition parties as in the past such types of actions got interrupted due to a lack of coordination between the government and the opposition.
