RAWALPINDI: As Jamaat-e-Islami continues to stage a sit-in at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh, the federal government has made its first formal interaction with the party to hold “serious talks” with them, local media reported.

As per media reports, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has held a telephone conversation with JI Vice Emir Liaquat Baloch to hold discuss the party’s demands as it continues its protest against soaring inflation and excessive electricity bills.

JI on Friday claimed 1,150 of its workers were arrested while trying to march on Islamabad following the authorities imposed Section 144 in the city.

Earlier, all road blockages have been cleared throughout Islamabad on Saturday. However, Metro bus service remains suspended, local media reported.  The Islamabad Traffic Police said that traffic was back to normal, with vehicles moving freely across major routes like Faizabad, Jinnah Avenue, the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway.

However, the Metro bus service continues to remain suspended in Islamabad till the filing of this report. Residents asked the government to take the immediate step to restore Metro Bus Service as they suffered a lot due to the closure of the bus service.
