LAHORE: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said on Tuesday that any decision regarding the potential ban of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would be reached after thorough consultations with allied political parties.

Addressing the media at an event held at Data Darbar, Ishaq Dar emphasized that the current economic challenges, including inflation, were not solely the result of the current government’s actions but stemmed from alleged electoral fraud in the 2018 elections and subsequent economic mismanagement by the PTI-led administration.

Dar asserted that despite facing significant economic hurdles, the coalition government has successfully navigated the country away from bankruptcy and is actively engaged in efforts to stabilize the economy and curb inflation.

Highlighting positive developments in international relations, Dar pointed out that several major countries are renewing diplomatic ties with Pakistan, which he viewed as a positive indicator of economic recovery in the near future.

Regarding PTI’s legal status, Dar referenced evidence reportedly held by the Election Commission of Pakistan suggesting foreign funding of the party, underscoring the importance of adhering to constitutional norms and legal procedures in addressing such matters.

Dar also addressed recent statements made by Federal Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar, stating that these remarks would be discussed with allied parties before any definitive actions are taken.

Dar reiterated the government’s commitment to national security, emphasizing that any threats or actions against Pakistan’s security interests would not be tolerated.
