WASHINGTON: Microsoft announced that it had developed OpenAI’s multimodal model GPT-4o available to developers on its Azure AI. The announcement was made at Microsoft Build 2024, the company’s developer conference.

Developers can now explore GPT-4o on the Microsoft Cloud platform using Azure AI Studio and its API. Azure AI Studio offers a playground with the latest tools supported by Azure, including GPT-4 Turbo and now GPT-4o. Currently, all image and vision capabilities of GPT-4o are accessible via OpenAI’s API and ChatGPT, with the highly anticipated Voice Mode expected to be available in a few weeks. This applies to both Azure AI Studio and Microsoft’s API.

According to a blog post on the Microsoft tech community hub, audio capabilities are not yet available. The exact timeline for audio functionality in Azure AI remains unknown, although Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, hinted at possible uses of GPT-4o through Copilot. For example, users might share their screen or session with Copilot powered by GPT-4o and request assistance with playing Minecraft.

Alternatively, Mashable’s Alex Perry suggests that if users encounter difficulties with Minecraft, they can either play the game for 10 minutes or simply Google it.

Explaining the potential applications of GPT-4o on Azure AI, Nadella stated, “One of the coolest things is how any app, any website can essentially be turned into a full multimodal, full-duplex conversational canvas.
