QUETTA: A hand grenade explosion near Quetta railway station claimed the life of one person and injured eleven others. The tragic incident occurred late at night, further heightening concerns about the security situation in the area.

The Balochistan Health Department spokesperson, Dr. Waseem Baig, confirmed the identity of the deceased as Siraj, the son of Mumtaz. The explosion, which took place in a busy area, prompted an immediate response from local law enforcement.

Quetta Police swiftly cordoned off the area and conducted a thorough investigation. During their search, security personnel and the bomb disposal squad discovered and defused another hand grenade located a short distance from the initial blast site, potentially averting further casualties.

This recent attack is part of a troubling pattern of violence in Quetta, where multiple explosions have occurred over the past several days. On August 13, an IED (land mine) blast in the Liaquat Bazar area resulted in the death of one person and injured seven others. The ongoing violence has claimed the lives of four people in recent days, raising alarms over the deteriorating security situation in the provincial capital.

The series of explosions has left residents in fear, and authorities are under increasing pressure to enhance security measures and prevent further incidents. The recurring attacks highlight the need for more robust counterterrorism efforts and better protection for civilians in Quetta and the broader region.
