SRINAGAR: In the midst of the ongoing grave circumstances prevailing in Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has emphatically asserted that the global community must turn its immediate attention to this critical issue.

Leaders of the APHC, including Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous, Muhammad Shaif Lone, Zamruda Habib, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Ghulam Nabi War, and Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, have conveyed their profound concern over the rampant state-sponsored terrorism unleashed by India within the occupied region. Regrettably, they noted that the youth of Kashmir are being unjustly detained by Indian security forces under the pretext of so-called “cordon and search operations,” without any valid justification.

The APHC leadership deplores the manipulation of brute force by India, which seeks to undermine the legitimate demand of Kashmiris for political justice. This heavy-handed approach is a testament to India’s sinister intentions. Particularly concerning are the malevolent strategies employed by the BJP regime, aimed at suppressing dissenting voices in IIOJK through the oppressive employment of draconian laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

It is a matter of great alarm that the Modi government has trampled upon the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. Rights like freedom of expression, press freedom, and the liberties to engage in political, social, business, and religious activities have all been egregiously violated. The international community must not turn a blind eye to the ongoing atrocities within IIOJK. India’s imperious stance on Kashmir must give way to an acknowledgement of the prevailing ground realities in the evolving geopolitical landscape. A resolution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute is an urgent necessity.

The leaders of APHC ardently appeal to the United Nations to fulfil its role in facilitating the resolution of the protracted Kashmir dispute, in line with its resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. By doing so, lasting peace in South Asia can be achieved. It is imperative that nations worldwide unite to address the pressing situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and work towards a just and peaceful solution that upholds the rights and aspirations of the Kashmiri populace.
