Gulf Countries Warn Nationals on Hawaii Wildfires

DUBAI: Several Gulf states have issued warning to their nationals in Hawaii to take caution against the raging wildfires and adhere to instructions of local authorities.

The embassy of Saudi Arabia in the US called on its citizens in the Hawaiian islands to evacuate as soon as possible and follow the cautions and warnings issued by local authorities.

Moreover, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait’s embassies also issued warnings against the wildfires and advised nationals to take precautions for their safety, Arab News reported.

In the island of Maui, a state of emergency was declared while firefighters were struggling to extinguish fires that forced the dislocation of thousands of people and sent thick smoke clouds billowing over nearby beaches.

Wildfires takes heavy toll

The raging wildfires in the Maui island took a heavy toll on people and property, killing at least fifty-three individuals and devastating the historic town of Lahaina.
