TEHRAN: Unknown gunmen attacked a vehicle carrying election boxes in southeastern Iran and killed two security personnel, Iran’s official media reported on Saturday. Iranian media reported that several people have been injured in the attack.

The incident occurred after midnight local time (20:30 GMT on Friday), the deadline for the voting process in Iran’s snap presidential polls.   The election was called after President Ebrahim Raeisi was killed along with seven others on May 19, when the helicopter carrying them crashed in northwestern Iran.
