MAKKAH: Saudi Ministry of Commerce inspection teams conducted 24,880 visits to commercial establishments and routes in the Makkah Region during the period from the 1st to the 29th of Dhu al-Qa’dah 1445 AH.
This extensive effort coincided with the arrival of Hajj pilgrims and was part of the ministry’s operational plan for the Hajj season, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The inspections covered various areas including the central vicinity of the Grand Mosque, the Haramain express train, markets, commercial centers, gold and jewellery markets, service centers, and petrol stations, as well as the roads leading to the Two Holy Mosques.
During these visits, 1,259 immediate violations were documented.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Commerce’s seasonal operational plan in Makkah, Madinah, and the holy sites. The goal is to ensure the availability of food supplies for pilgrims and visitors while ensuring that commercial establishments comply with consumer protection regulations.
Mobile SIM Cards Gifted to Pilgrims
The General Secretariat of the Pilgrim Experience Programme, in collaboration with a local telecommunications company, distributed mobile SIM cards as gifts to pilgrims.
“These SIM cards offer internet and calling services, enabling pilgrims to stay connected with their families during their journey,” SPA reported.
Distributed upon arrival in Makkah, the cards enable pilgrims to share their Hajj experiences and express gratitude for the comfortable stay in Saudi Arabia.
