GAZA: Hamas’s Qatar-based chief Ismail Haniyeh on Tuesday accused Israel of sabotaging peace negotiations after its operation on Gaza’s largest hospital, which Israel said targeted militants.

Israel’s military claimed that dozens of militants were killed Monday and hundreds arrested during a raid on Gaza City’s Al-Shifa, a complex filled with patients and displaced people.

Haniyeh said that the actions of Israeli forces at Al-Shifa Medical Complex confirm their intent to hinder the recovery of life in Gaza and dismantle essential aspects of human life.

He went on to say the deliberate targeting of government officials and police officers in Gaza shows their efforts to perpetuate violence among the resilient people of Gaza. He said this also reveals the Israeli leaders’ attempt to sabotage ongoing talks in Doha.

Negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza and hostage release were underway in Qatari Capital, Doha and a -proposal could soon be handed over to Hamas.

Meanwhile a senior Qatari official on Tuesday confirmed that Israel’s Mossad chief, David Barnea, has departed Doha, but negotiations concerning a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages are continuing in Qatar’s capital.
