LONDON: The Duke of Sussex Prince Harry has said he wrote his tell-all book ‘Spare’ because of “38 years… of spin and distortion” and has not written anything “scathing” about members of his family.

Harry claimed in his mind “planting and leaking” from other members of the royal family meant, they had written “millions of words and ‘’countless books’’ … dedicated to trying to trash my wife”. The duke also said in an interview with Tom Bradby on ITV that there was a “horrible reaction” from his family members when the Queen died.

He said in the interview that his brother “raised some concerns” about Meghan Markle and his marriage and of how his father the King blamed himself for the struggle of his son, telling him “I should have got you the help you needed years ago”. In a difficult encounter that followed revelations Harry made in his biography about his wilder youth, he also asked Bradby if he would like to talk about losing his own virginity.

Mother’s burial was so heartbreaking: Harry

At the burial of the Duke of Edinburgh, he claimed it was so heartbreaking for him that he “just didn’t believe” his brother William when he said he wanted Harry to be happy and used the phrase “on mummy’s life.” Harry said in his book that the two had been using the phrase as a “universal password” or “secret code” for 25 years “for when one of us needed to be heard.”

Harry said that it was all created by the press of British and a competition was created for Meghan Markle and him to be included in the “fab four” alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales. The four of us being together had always been his hope, he admitted. I always thought that the four of us would get along before it was Meghan, whomever it was going to be.

However, Meghan and Kate’s dispute swiftly turned into a public spectacle, from which you can’t run away. The duke remarked that he didn’t think the King or the Prince of Wales would read his book and that he wasn’t sure whether they would watch the ITV interview. In the interview, which aired on 9 pm on Sunday on ITV, Harry discussed how he found it difficult to express any emotion when he met mourners after his mother passed away in 1997.

In addition, he acknowledged feeling “some guilt” when navigating the masses gathering in front of Kensington Palace, claiming the only other time he had shed tears was during his mother’s funeral. From the memoir, which is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, a number of details have already been leaked. Some of Harry’s claims in the book have drawn criticism, including that the Prince of Wales assaulted him physically and called his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, “difficult” and “abrasive.”

Other controversial claims include that William and Kate encouraged Prince Harry to wear the Nazi uniform that triggered outrage in 2005, and that he killed 25 Taliban while serving in Afghanistan.
