ISLAMABAD: Claims circulating on social media alleging that Australia has imposed a travel ban on over 50 senior officials of the Pakistan army and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are false, according to the Australian High Commission in Pakistan.
The false claim, shared on Twitter and Facebook, suggested that Australia had banned the entry of Pakistani military officials, including retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa, former chief of army staff, and serving chief of army staff General Asim Munir, due to alleged human rights violations in Pakistan.

However, the Australian High Commission confirmed that these reports are untrue. In response to inquiries, a spokesperson stated that no travel ban had been imposed on any military official from Pakistan. The spokesperson further clarified that Australia supports a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic Pakistan and regularly engages with the government on human rights concerns.
The misleading social media posts garnered significant attention, with the video being viewed over 71,000 times and retweeted over 4,000 times. Similar claims were also shared on Facebook. The fact-check serves to debunk these false assertions and clarify the official position of the Australian government.
