Health Ministry in Gaza Says War Death toll at 41,825

GAZA:  The health ministry in Gaza has said that around 41,825 people have been killed in almost a year of war between Hamas and Israel.

The toll also includes 23 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry, which stated 96,910 people have been injured in Gaza since the war began when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.

Earlier, Palestinian group Hamas has said an Israeli strike killed one of its top commanders in a refugee camp in north Lebanon Saturday, the first time the area had been hit since the start of war in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the group said, “Commander” Saeed Attallah Ali, his wife and two daughters were killed in “Zionist bombardment” of his home in the Beddawi camp. Israel has repeatedly targeted Hamas leaders in Lebanon since October 7.  Hamas has confirmed the deaths of at least 18 of its men in Lebanon since then.

The group stated that an air attack on Monday killed its leader in Lebanon Fatah Sharif Abu Al-Amine in his house in the Al-Bass camp in south Lebanon.  In August, an Israeli attack on a car in the south Lebanon city of Sidon killed Hamas leader Samer Al-Hajj.

An attack in January, which a US defense official added was conducted by Israel, killed Hamas deputy leader Saleh Al-Aruri and six other men in Hezbollah’s south Beirut center.
