BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: During a recent meeting of the parliament committee for social policy, Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziev disclosed that Kyrgyzstan currently hosts a significant number of foreign nationals, with 11,000 citizens from India and 12,970 citizens from Pakistan residing in the country.

These individuals include both students and workers, contributing to the cultural diversity and economic landscape of Kyrgyzstan.

Responding to inquiries from MP Ilimbek Kubanychbekov regarding the healthcare coverage of these foreign residents, it was revealed that a substantial portion of them have obtained compulsory health insurance.

Healthcare and Social Welfare For Foreigners In Kyrgyzstan

Specifically, the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund reported that 7,996 foreign students have secured insurance policies, ensuring access to essential healthcare services during their stay in Kyrgyzstan.

However, there remains a notable gap in healthcare coverage for other categories of foreign nationals. Over a two-year period, only 11 individuals beyond the student demographic have been enrolled in compulsory health insurance programs.

This highlights the need for enhanced efforts to extend healthcare protection to all foreign citizens residing in Kyrgyzstan, regardless of their status or occupation.

The disclosure underscores Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to promoting the well-being and social welfare of its diverse population, including foreign residents. By ensuring access to comprehensive healthcare coverage, the government aims to create an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters the overall prosperity and integration of foreign nationals into Kyrgyz society.
