ISLAMABAD: Early morning heavy rainfall in most parts of the country including Islamabad has brought respite from much hot and humid weather. Heavy rainfall has been reported in several parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and its surrounding areas.
The rain coupled with strong winds has broken the heatwave, but low-lying regions have become flooded. As per media reports, WASA has also deployed heavy machinery to take out flood water.
Moreover, power outages have also occurred in multiple parts of the country due to feeders tripping following the rain. Lahore has experienced rainfall in many areas, including Anarkali Bazaar, Mall Road, Qartaba Chowk, Waris Road as well as Lawrence Road.
The Met Office said that in Lahore, irregular rain is predicted throughout the day, with a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius.
With the current rainfall in Lahore, the Commissioner of the city has issued directives to relevant authorities to ensure efficient water drainage.
Karachi’s weather remains humid, with a chance of light rain and drizzle today, the Met Office said in a statement. The sky has been overcast since the morning and is likely to stay cloudy throughout the day.
