ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has advised students to seek admission to only recognized institutions for their higher studies.

According to the official sources, HEC has notified for the information of the general public, students, and parents that the commission has been empowered by virtue of its ordinance under which educational institutions, including those not part of the educational system of the State, might be established and operated across the country.

Therefore HEC, in exercising its powers, recognizes degrees from accredited institutions/universities in the private and public sectors and degrees from their approved/accredited campuses, including Transnational Educational Institutions offering foreign qualifications in Pakistan, as mentioned on the HEC website.

HEC cautions against seeking admissions in unverified institutions

HEC warned that any other Institution/University which is not listed in HEC Recognized Institutions/Universities/Campuses available on the commission website would not be considered/ recognized.

In the greater interest of the general public and the coming admission season, students and their parents are cautioned to verify the legal status of the Institution/University, its campus, and its transnational education (TNE) provider from the HEC website before seeking admission.

Moreover, the status of affiliated colleges/institutions can be verified by respective public sector institutions/universities and HEC.
