HEC Announces Postgraduate Scholarships For Balochistan, Ex-Fata Students

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) announced postgraduate scholarships for Balochistan and ex-FATA students to study in recognized Pakistani universities.

The HEC has sought applications from students from ex-Fata, and Balochistan who intends to do MS/MPhil from local universities and degree awarding institutions (DAIs).

The scholarships will be awarded for the 2022-2023 academic year in all areas of studies/ disciplines under Batch-V of “Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for the Students of Balochistan and FATA (Phase-Il)”.

According to the eligibility criteria, applicants must have a local domicile from Balochistan and ex-Fata. Candidates must have completed 16 years of education with 60% marks. The candidate’s maximum age must be at around 35 years on the closing date. 

The candidates must have the required academic qualifications before applying for the scholarship. Candidates already availing of any other HEC or government scholarship are not eligible to apply for these scholarships. Candidates must meet HEC and university admission criteria for MS/MPhil programs.

The scholarships would cover tuition fees and other charges, including hostel fees, which will be Rs60,000 per semester/ year.

The living allowance will also be given under these scholarships at Rs10,000 per month with an annual increment of Rs500 for the 2nd year will be an allowance. However, a book allowance of Rs6,000 per year, a travelling allowance of Rs5,000 per year and an initial settlement allowance of Rs. 10,000, once will be given to the successful candidates of these scholarships.

These scholarships will be awarded on merit. An aptitude test by HEC will be taken from candidates, after which they will be shortlisted based on this test. At least 50% marks are mandatory for the candidates during the aptitude test.
