HEC Unveils Helmut-Schmidt-Programme Master’s Scholarships

ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission on Monday announced Helmut-Schmidt-Program Master’s Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance 2024 to promote good governance and civil society structures in emerging and developing countries.

HEC said in a press release that the Program offers future leaders master’s courses in subjects that are of special relevance for political, social, and economic development, prepares them in a practice-oriented course for responsible posts and contributes to establishing social and economic institutions that are democratically oriented and made to overcome social inequalities.

The graduates from emerging and developing countries (bachelor or equivalent) with a well-qualified 1st university degree and above-average grades (upper 3rd) in Social and Political Sciences, Economics, Public Policy, Administration, and Law, willing to actively contribute to the political, social, and economic development of their countries/regions, who have already gained practical experience relevant for the program (internships, political/social commitment, professional experience) are eligible for the scholarships.

Academic education in one of the master’s courses will take place from September to October 2024.

Scholarships Details

DAAD scholarship holders would be exempted from paying tuition fees. The scholarship holders would receive scholarships (of currently 934 euro per month) for master’s courses at higher education institutions, health insurance coverage in Germany, travel allowances for travel between Germany and the respective emerging and developing countries, rent subsidies and family supplements, a study and research grant, preceding six-month German language course in Germany in which participation would be mandatory.

The application period for all 7 higher education institutions is from June 1 until July 31, 2023. The DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Program (known as Public Policy and Good Governance) supports future leaders from developing nations who want to promote social justice and democracy in their home countries.

The program, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, offers the opportunity to acquire a Master’s degree in a Master’s program of special relevance for the political, social, and economic development in the students’ nations of origin.
