BEIRUT, Lebanon: On Friday, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching multiple Katyusha rockets at the Israeli air defence base located in the Birya barracks in northern Israel.

The group stated that their attack successfully hit the base and ignited parts of it. In response, Israeli warplanes conducted two airstrikes early in the morning on the southern Lebanese city of Bint Jbeil. The first strike targeted a residential house, and the second hit a valley area. Despite the rapid response of ambulance and civil defence teams, there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The attack marks an escalation in the ongoing border tensions between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. This escalation comes as Israel continues its offensive against the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in over 41,100 casualties mostly women and children since last October.

The heightened conflict underscores the volatile situation in the region, exacerbated by ongoing cross-border hostilities and the broader conflict involving Hamas.
